Free Watch and Jewellery Valuations in Bristol
BristolSouth West
We value watches, jewellery and precious metal free of charge, by appointment, at Castlemead on Lower Castle Street. Most valuations take a few minutes and you leave knowing where you stand. There is no fee, no obligation, and nobody will push you towards a sale on the day. As independent luxury watch and jewellery specialists based in Bristol, we would rather you had an accurate number and went away to think about it than felt rushed into anything.
What we value
- Luxury and vintage watches, including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Cartier, Omega and Breitling
- Fine and antique jewellery, diamond rings, tennis bracelets and signed designer pieces
- Gold and silver by weight, from single items to full collections
- Bullion coins and sterling silverware
- Inherited collections, where several pieces need going through together
- Pocket watches and older mechanical pieces
Why people ask for one
The most common reason is a sale, either now or at some point, and knowing the figure helps you plan. Insurance is next, where people want to understand what a piece is worth before speaking to their insurer. Probate valuations are frequent, and we are used to handling those sensitively and quickly. Divorce and separation bring their share too, where both parties want an independent figure from someone with no stake in the outcome. And plenty of people simply want to know what the watch in the drawer is actually worth.
One important point. What we give you is a market valuation, meaning what we would pay for the piece today or what it would realistically sell for. It is not a formal insurance certificate or a written appraisal document for an insurer. If your insurer needs certified paperwork, you will need an approved valuer, and we are happy to point you in the right direction.
What to bring
- The watch or jewellery itself, since photographs alone only get us so far
- Boxes, papers, warranty cards and receipts, which can change the figure noticeably
- Any service records or repair invoices
- Spare links, straps and any original tags
- Photo ID (passport or driving licence) if you might sell on the day
If something is not working or looks tired, bring it as it is. We will tell you whether the cost of putting it right through the watchmaker we work with would be repaid at sale, or whether it is better left alone.
What happens next is up to you
After the valuation you might do nothing at all, which is a perfectly good outcome. If you do want to move on the piece, we will make a firm offer through our buying service, paid by bank transfer or in cash the same day once we have checked your ID and the piece, or list it on your behalf through consignment, which usually means a higher figure, and you can track views and offers on your own dashboard. Everything we sell is authenticated before sale and guaranteed authentic for life, which is the same standard we apply when valuing yours.
Book a time at Suite 616, Castlemead, Lower Castle Street, Bristol BS1 3AG, and your valuation is done in private. For gold and silver, the gold calculator gives you a working figure before you travel.
